Time for another little break in the educational life of our children. Teachers at Century Elementary School get a moment to catch up and kids get President’s Day as a school holiday this weekend.
School will not be held February 16-19, extending the weekend by a couple of days. Then Parent-Teacher conferences will be scheduled for February 21-22 after school hours, 3:30-7:00 pm., giving parents opportunity to review their child’s goals with their teachers.
During the recent Corinne City Council meeting, council woman Karen Caldwell disclosed the fund raiser ideas for the continued efforts for the restoration of the old Methodist church. The Easter basket raffle will be in conjunction with the egg hunt March 30. There will be a two-day “olde fashioned” baseball tourney this year again abiding by “olde fashioned” rules and regulations, and costumes.
During the 4th of July celebration, face painting will be available, all proceeds going toward the Methodist church. Last year, an historical tour was available for visitors from USU. The same tour will be held this summer for the public. And Christmas cards and the Christmas cantata will be held in December.
Caldwell also gave a report on the construction progress on the church. She said the search for grants continues as no work will be done if funds are not available to pay for it.
Mayor Baton remarked on the coming city cleanup efforts and the placement of dumpsters in the city. Irrigation schedules are underway and an increase in fees may be inevitable. City Recorder Kendra Norman reminded council members that budget time is here and council members should review their areas of responsibility and submit any changes or additions for next year.
Water, water everywhere and not a drop to drink, just for a mud bath.
