Post annual cereal sale
Post Consumer Brands will hold its annual cereal sale for charity beginning at 7 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30 at the Box Elder County Fairgrounds, Commercial Exhibit Building #3.
Purchases of bagged and boxed cereal are limited to 50 items per person at $1.50 apiece. Purchases go toward supporting various organizations including Acts Six Soup Kitchen, Habitat for Humanity, local food pantries and others.
A line typically forms at the event. Those in attendance are welcome to bring their own chairs to sit in while waiting in line.
Nominations sought for veterans awards
The Brigham City Veterans Day Committee will select local veterans and service members to be honored in a special military commemoration ceremony and banquet. Nominations are being accepted through Sept. 29 for the event to be held on Saturday, Nov. 11.
Nominations are accepted for individuals who are alive and living in Box Elder County (we do not award posthumously); served or serve in the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard or National Guard; are on active duty or the reserves; served for any length of time in any location; are willing to be recognized; and have not been separated from these services without an honorable discharge.
Nominees do not have to be Brigham City residents, but they must reside in Box Elder County.
The committee will select five honorees based on noteworthy military service, honor, courage, commitment, and sacrifice during their military service to our nation, but decorations for valor are not required. Selections are based only on the nominee’s military service and unwavering dedication to the veteran community.
Paper forms are accepted via mail or via email as scanned documents if they are typed or neatly hand-written. Paper forms can be obtained from the Brigham City Community Center. The form is available online at https://brigham.seamlessdocs.com/f/VeteranNomination
If the nominee is selected as a finalist, the committee will require documentation to verify the nominee’s service and awards. The committee may request other supporting information. Finalists will be identified in early October 2023, and the selection of honorees is expected to be completed in late October 2023.
Please direct any inquiries to the Brigham City Community Center at (435) 226-1455.
