During spring break, the Bear River softball team had just one game, a nonconference matchup at home against Uintah.
Playing in Garland on Tuesday, April 2, the Bears struck first, plating one run in the second inning. The Utes tied the score at 1-1 in the top of the fourth, but Bear River responded with three more runs in the bottom of the inning, then added two more in the sixth for a commanding 6-1 lead.
Uintah made a valiant comeback effort in the seventh inning, scoring three runs, but couldn’t get the two more it needed to tie the score. The Bears came away victorious, 6-4.
Seniors Ashley Warren and Kaya Towne led the Bears with three hits apiece, while Kendyl Archibald and Molly Canfield each had two. Towne had three RBIs, including a double. Canfield and Aubree Fry both hit triples that resulted in a score.
Katelyn Wilson and Emma Harrow split time in the circle, with Wilson striking out four Utes and Harrow three.
This week, the Bears (7-4, 2-1) have a region game at Logan on Tuesday. They will go back out of region to host Olympus on Wednesday (3:30 start time), then head to Sky View on Friday for another Region 11 showdown.
