The defending state champion Bear River softball squad has had its ups and downs this season, but persevered through the challenges to earn a first-round bye in the 4A state playoffs.

The Bears finished second in the final Region 11 standings and earned the No. 7 seed in the state tournament. They will host Tooele this Thursday and Friday in a three-game super regional, with the winner moving on to face either Desert Hills or Mountain Crest in bracket play on May 15.
