BELMONT SPRINGS – Just playing nine holes at Camper World Golf Course is enough of a workout. Running the cross country course setup along the links – one of the Bear River cross country team’s home courses and site of this year’s Cache-Box Invitational – can be brutal.
However, the course’s steep hills weren’t too much for the Mountain Crest girls to handle as they placed all seven of their varsity runners in the top 10, topping Preston and a strong Box Elder team for the team title on Wednesday.
Box Elder’s Kelsey Braithwaite distanced herself for the individual title at 19 minutes, 41 seconds. Bear River’s Emily Pickett came in 24th (23.29), followed closely by Rhylee Roberts (27th, 23.50), Abby Thornley (28th, 24.02) and Julie Miller (29th, 24.09). Mt. Crest won the team title with 35 points, Bear River came in sixth with 144.
