Loading ...ATK and NASA’s Second Ground Test Will be Posted Online
On Tuesday Aug. 31, as long as all goes well, ATK and NASA are set to test the second fully developed Ares five-segment solid rocket motor. The Leader will post a video of the ground test firing online along with a short article that day.
If you are interested in viewing the ground test live come to ATK in Promontory, the test will start at 9:27 a.m. This rocket motor is an upgraded version of the Shuttle’s 4-segment booster and a key element of NASA’s future Heavy Lift Launch vehicle.
T-0 is at 9:27a.m. It is suggested that you arrive at the viewing area 15 to 30 minutes before then. Viewing area is located westbound on Highway 83 about 2.5 miles after Highway 102 junction. Highway 102 is the Thatcher/Penrose highway.
