Mayor Times Three – Packer continues family tradition

There seems to be a pattern established for Garland youth mayors. Every other year, a daughter of Eric and Sandy Packer fills the role. Though the family may not technically live in Garland city limits, it’s close enough for Madison Packer and Garland City.

“Our family attends church in the Garland Stake,” 17-year-old Packer said. It just makes sense to her that she’s involved in Garland.

Packer got involved in the youth council two years ago when her sister Cami was mayor. Cami got involved when Courtnie was mayor. Apparently, Packer said, those council members who actively participate and who have been there the longest tend to become mayor. Obviously, the Packer sisters fit the bill.
