Council raves over Special Olympics
Members of the Tremonton City Council and the Tremonton Police Department raved over the success of the Special Olympics torch run last Wednesday.
“It’s really turned into a great event,” Tremonton City Police Chief Dave Nance said. Members of the police department help sponsor and run, a yearly event for students and residents of the Bear River Valley. Runners in the Special Olympics run the torch from the south part of Tremont Street to the end of the street, each taking turns along the way. The torch stays lit throughout the state.
In other council news, the Beautification Committee is in need of two new members. Councilmember Diana Doutre is over the committee for the city and noted that they are also kicking off the city’s summer reading program on June 5 at the Tremonton City Library. Any young reader is welcome to join the summer long reading program.
