COMMUNITY CALENDAR

Dutch Oven Cook-off
 The National Dutch Oven Finalist Cook-off will be held July 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the parking lot at Bear River Valley Country Store, 2780 N. 4800 W., Corinne.   The event is sponsored by Camp Chef and the International Dutch Oven Society.  The public is invited to sign up to cook or learn from the pros.
A kids’ Great American Hot Dog Roasting Contest with prizes is also planned.  Hot dogs and trimmings will be provided.  There will be demonstrations and food samples.  For more information, call 435-744-2211 or 801-571-0789.

Driver Safety
    An AARP Driver’s Safety course will be held Thursday, July 5, at the Bear River Valley Senior Center from 1 to 5 p.m.  Cost is $12 for AARP members and $14 for non-members. A Certificate of Completion may reduce auto insurance rates.

New Gardening Club
 A new garden club is being organized in the Tremonton-Garland area.  The Organic and GMO-Free Gardening Club will begin meeting to exchange ideas and discuss organic gardening.  For more information about the club and when they gather, contact Charliene Fletcher, 435-631-0785.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

NORTH HILLS CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP CLOSET: North Hills Christian Fellowship has opened a clothing closet for the community called the Trading Post, located at 83 S. Tremont Street.  For more information about what is offered, contact Sharlene Fletcher, 435-631-0785, or drop by that address on Wednesdays at 4 p.m.

BEAR RIVER VALLEY HOSPITAL SUPPORT GROUPS: Bear River Valley Hospital is offering a number of support groups open to members of the community.  An ADHD support group will meet the first Thursday of each month from 6 to 7 p.m., in the hospital conference room.  The meeting will provide an opportunity for those participating to express feelings and concerns and get ideas and information to put into practice.  A bereavement support group will meet the second and fourth Wednesday of each month from noon to 1 p.m., in Room 11, at the hospital. Topics related to grief will be discussed and handouts provided to help individuals in each stage of the grief process. Those dealing with the emotions of cancer are invited to a cancer support group every Tuesday, from noon to 1 p.m., in the hospital’s Room 11.  This group is designed to provide educational material, insight and guidance for this difficult journey.  Support is also offered for those suffering from chronic illness with the Living Well support group, slated for the first and third Wednesday of each month.  The sessions will run from noon to 1 p.m., also in Room 11.

HOUSING AND FINANCIAL COUNSELING SERVICES: Housing and Financial Counseling Services at the Utah State University Family Life Center will be presenting Nuts and Bolts of Nickels and Dimes – a financial management workshop on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month. ADDICTION RECOVERY HELP: Narconon reminds parents that abuse of addictive pharmaceutical drugs with youth is on the rise.  Learn to recognize the signs of drug abuse and get your kids help if they need it. SINGLE AND PREGNANT?: Free, confidential counseling and support for anyone facing pregnancy outside of marriage. Pre-marriage counseling, adoption counseling and preparing for single parenthood are available. We can help with medical costs, housing, financial assistance and connecting with community resources. NA MEETING: Northern Utah Area of Narcotics Anonymous holds a New Attitudes non-smoking meeting every Monday and Friday at 7:30 p.m., at the Santa Ana Catholic Church, 760 W. 600 N., Tremonton.  Anyone interested is welcome to attend. Monday and Tuesdays

TREMONTON COMMUNITY PANTRY: The Tremonton Community Pantry will be open on Mondays and Tuesdays from 3 – 6 p.m., at 150 S. Tremont St., Tremonton, 257-9530.  Donations of food or money are accepted.  Help support this valuable community resource.

Monday and Tuesdays

UTAH’S FOOD BANK: Donation drop-off for Utah’s Food Bank will be at 145 S. 100 W. on Mondays and Tuesdays from 3 – 6 p.m.  Items needed are non-perishable food items, canned foods, baking goods, pastas, canned fruits, peanut butter, tuna fish, high protein foods and presents for the children (new or unused clothing and toys).  All donations accepted.  Any questions, call Kirk at 279-0686 or 257-7169.

Tuesdays

FAMILIES SUPPORTING FAMILIES MEETINGS: The Families Supporting Families, a support group for families and friends of addicts, will hold a meeting every Tuesday night, 6 to 7 p.m. The meetings will be held at the YCU (Your Community in Unity) 435 E. 700 South, Brigham City, Utah. Tuesdays and Thursdays

PREGNANCY CARE CENTER: The Pregnancy Care Center, located at 18 North 100 E., Brigham City, is available for free pregnancy tests, safe, caring and confidential information and advice.  They are open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 – 4 p.m.  For more information, please call (435) 723-0500.

LDS DRUG ADDICTION RECOVERY PROGRAM: Support group meets every Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. at the Bear River High School LDS Seminary Building. Everyone welcome, including family and friends of addicts. For more information, call (435) 257-5732.

Third Thursdays

ADD/ADHD SUPPORT GROUP: A support group for individuals with ADD and ADHD and their family members will be hosted by OPTIONS for Independence the third Thursday of the month, from 7-9 p.m., at OPTIONS, 1095 N. Main Street, Logan.  For more information, contact Anna at (435) 753-5353 ext. 103.

Third Thursdays

AMERICAN LEGION POST 76 MEETINGS: The Tremonton American Legion Post 76 will meet at the Tremonton Senior Center on the third Thursday each month at 7 p.m. All veterans are invited to attend.

Tuesdays and Thursdays

YCU OF BOX ELDER COUNTY: Individual counseling is held on Tuesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to noon.  Domestic violence support group is held on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 5 p.m.  These services are provided at no charge to clients and are located at 435 E. 700 S., Brigham City. CHURCH SERVICES

CALVARY BAPTIST CHURCH: The Calvary Baptist Church is located at 830 W. 1200 S., Tremonton.  Come and join us for Sunday School 10 a.m., Morning Worship 11 a.m., Evening Prayer and Worship Time, 6:30 p.m.  Join us for our Wednesday Night Bible Study as we study the book of Revelation at 7 p.m. Nursery is provided for all services. GRACE BIBLE CHURCH: The Grace Bible Church meets at 105 W. Main Street, Tremonton.  Sunday School is at 10 a.m., with morning worship at 11 a.m.  We also have prayer meeting at 7 p.m., on Wednesdays.

NORTH HILLS CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP CHURCH: The North Hills Christian Fellowship Church meets at 83 South Tremont St., with Sunday School at 10 a.m., and Worship at 11 a.m. An inspirational message of God’s word will be preached during the 11 a.m. worship service.
