Candlelight vigil planned tonight to honor Higley

A candlelight vigil will be held Friday at 7 p.m. at the skate park to honor Michael Higley who passed away from injuries sustained in a crash in Sardine Canyon on Feb. 1. The Tremonton 17-year old’s friend and passenger Robert Watson, 17, of Garland, remains in Intensive Care at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray.

High school friends of Higley have planned the vigil and will be providing green candles to anyone who is interested in coming. Green was Higley’s favorite color, according to school guidance counselor Linda Kuwana, and the skating park was one of his favorite places.

Lt. Lee Perry, UHP, said that his office was notified of Higley’s death Thursday morning. Higley is the second person to pass away as a result of the crash, as 54-year old Robert Smith, of Wellsville, died at the time of the accident, which affected four cars

This is so sad. Our deepest sympathy to Michael’s family. Robert Smith who died at the time of the accident was my uncle. We are also praying for the recovery of Robert Watson. Just wanted the other families involved in this to know that we are thinking of them too.
