The Bear River swim team’s season is almost over. They headed to the region tournament last Saturday, which is their last meet before state. The Bears had a great meet as they took fourth in the boys’ and girls’ and third combined.
“I am very proud of the team for doing as well as they did. The boys only having nine on the team took fourth and the girls took fourth as well,” said coach Jen Christenson. “I am excited to see what we will do at state.”
They head to the State Tournament and BYU on Feb. 5 and 6.
On the girls’ side of things, the relay teams did very well. The 200 Medley Relay team of Amber Peterson, Ashton Roundy, Camille Ballard and Teghan Blank took fourth place with a time of 2:23.64. Sariah Stanley-Gray, Blank, Sorensen and Ballard took fourth in the 200 Free Relay, swimming a 2:04.71. The 400 Free relay team of Amber Peterson, Stanley-Gray, Roundy and Sorensen, also took fourth in their race, swimming a 4:50.08.
Individual top finishers included Peterson, who took ninth in the 200 Free with a 2:30.10. Ballard had a strong swim in the 200 IM with a 2:32.13 to take fourth. Peterson and Sorensen were the lone Bears in the 500 Free with Peterson coming in fifth with a 6:38.29 and Sorensen in ninth with a 6:44.86. In the 100 Back, S. Stanley-Gray took seventh with a 1:21.34 and Greene took 10th with a 1:28.21. Ballard took third with a 1:17.60 in the 100 Breast stroke.
