Faulty tire leads to fatality

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAA rollover Wednesday morning on I-15 near the Riverside exit ended tragically for a 58-year-old Ogden woman. Information from the Utah Highway Patrol said Maria Morfin Arreola was traveling northbound near milepost 384 about 8:30, in a 1999 green Ford Explorer registered out of Idaho, when the rear passenger side tire separated.  The tire failure caused the vehicle to swerve into the median, where it rolled three times. The roof of the vehicle was crushed  during the rolls,  and the driver, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered severe head trauma.  She was transported to Bear River Valley Hospital in Tremonton, where she died from her injuries. I was right in front of her and watched the whole thing happen. Blew a tire in the right lane and started rolling on the road then rolled into the median. About 5 rolls. Myself and several others stopped and tried to help. Witnessing such a tragedy has been very hard knowing we could do nothing. My condolences to her family for their terrible loss.
