A Weber County man escaped serious injury after his vehicle rolled five times off the Willard Peak Road last night about 9:45 p.m.

According to Box Elder County Sheriff’s Deputy Kevin Potter, the man was traveling on Willard Peak road and just below was the Perry Reservoir. He was looking at the scenery when his Ford Escape went off the road, rolling five times before coming to a stop. Luckily he was wearing a seatbelt.

A passerby called for help. The Sheriff’s Department, Mantua first responders, Brigham City ambulance, as well as Search and Rescue all responded. The witness went down to the man and was able to help him back up to the road before emergency personnel had arrived. “It’s really amazing how he handled it, to roll like that and be able to climb up about 300 yards—that’s a long up hill hike,” said Potter.

With only a few cuts and bruises, the man refused to be transported in the ambulance and was taken off the mountain in a personal vehicle with his wife.
