Former Elwood resident, Jesse Roger Ogden, 73, was sentenced to six years to life in the Utah State Prison on two counts of Aggravated Sexual Abuse of a Child, first degree felonies. Ogden was arrested on Nov. 12, 2013, at his home in Elwood by the Weber County Sheriff’s Department.

According to the probable cause statement, a case of child abuse was reported to the Box Elder County Sheriff’s office on Jan. 9, 2008. Investigators learned through the victim, in an interview conducted by the Children’s Justice Center, that the sexual abuse started at the age of 5 and the abuse occurred several times in Eden, Utah. Ogden admitted in a phone interview with the victim’s mother that the abuse had occurred.

Ogden plead guilty to both charges on March 20, 2013, at Weber County’s Second District Court before Judge Noel S. Hyde and waived his right to a preliminary hearing. He was sentenced on June 5, 2014
