Through trial and error, the Casey and TeriLyn Porritt family of Bear River City, 6110 N. 4600 W., has been beautifying their yard for almost 20 years. They also use their skills to maintain the grounds at the city park and Bear River City Civic Center. But their hard work has paid off—they have been named this year’s Green Arrow recipients.
“Early on we were fighting puncture weeds and hay,” Casey said. “It takes time to get rid of all the stuff you don’t want. The stuff you want, doesn’t come together as easily as the stuff you don’t want.”
Little by little this family has worked on perfecting their one-acre yard. Weeding, mowing, cement work, a shed and a large garden have all been done by this “do-it-yourself” family.
