Signups for the annual Beat The Librarian contest begin May 27. The contest runs June 9-14. May 31, is the Summer Reading kickoff party at Shuman Park, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Fun and games are planned. All those signing up will get a free book. Early signups can be done at the library through May 31.
Deweyville’s Sesquicentennial 5K and Mile Run/Walk will be held Friday, July 4. Pre-registration deadline is Monday, June 10. Sign up now to be guaranteed a T-shirt. Entry fees are $8 for a single or $32 per family.

Box Elder School District’s Summer Lunch program is offered at four sites this year: Lake View Elementary School, 851 S. 200 W., and Mountain View Elementary School, 650 E. 700 S., both in Brigham City; McKinley Elementary School, 120 W. 500 S., in Tremonton; and Garland Elementary School, 450 S. 100 W., in Garland.
All children, one year to 18 years of age will be fed free lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., beginning June 9, and running through July 24. Adults may purchase a meal for $3. Students do not need to reside in the school area to eat.

Main Street Playhouse is offering a two-week Summer Theatre Camp, July 7-18. The camp will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday and is open to boys and girls, 13-18. Fielding Elementary School library will be open on Tuesday, June 10 and Tuesday, June 24, from 10 a.m. to noon, for students and their families to check out books. Story time will be at 11 a.m.

The Fine Arts Center in Brigham City will present “Cactus Flower,” a comedy set in the 60s, written by Abe Burrows. The play starts at 7:30 p.m., Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, May 29-June 14, with a matinee at 1 p.m., June 7. Tickets are $7 per person.
It is sponsored by Icon Health and Fitness and is under the direction of Tony Ritchie.
