Taking it to the street
Last September Tremonton City and the Bear River Valley Chamber of Commerce hosted representatives from the Sustainable Design Assessment Team (SDAT) Program to create a strategy to revitalize Tremonton’s Main Street. The SDAT team presented their findings and currently Shawn Warnke is working hard with a Main Street Mix team to put those suggestions into play with the goal of revitalizing historic Main Street and driving traffic, and business, into the community.
Shortly after the meeting with the SDAT team, the Bear River Valley Chamber of Commerce decided to offer a street fest with a sidewalk sale, local entertainment, a Farmer’s Market and lots of fun.
The Chamber applied for a tourism grant from the county to help in advertising and the Street Fest is now just two weeks away. The Street Fest will be held at Midland Square on May 17, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. There will be a bounce house for the children, provided by LUVN2Jump, a jump rope contest for youngsters 11-12, as well as local entertainment, like acoustic guitarist and singer Melissa Lucas and the Tremonton Comedy Club, from 12:30 to 4 p.m.. Vendors will set up their wares in Midland Square and businesses on Main Street have been encouraged to hold sidewalk sales on that day. A portion of the proceeds from the day will benefit local schools and the Boys and Girls Club.
