Walk for Christ
The annual Walk for Christ held on Saturday, April, 19, will be dedicated to local resident, Lucinda Reyes, who is fighting stage four cancer. The walk begins at the St. Henry Church, 380 S. 200 E., Brigham City, at 8 a.m., and ends at the Santa Ana Church, 760 W. 600 N., Tremonton. All are welcome to attend and will be given drinks and snacks along the way. Walkers will also be provided with a dinner at the church. For more information, contact Rene Tello at 435-230-1125.

Early Learning
The Early Learning Center is accepting candidates for mainstream students at their developmental preschool.  Students are asked to complete a speech screener and classroom tryout prior to being accepted.  All mainstream students should be potty-trained and have appropriate speech and behavior skills for their age.  The fee for mainstream students is as follows:  $70 for two days a week, $80 for three days a week, $90 for four days a week.    If interested, call 744-2468, for more information.

Dog Poop
The Box Elder Employer Committee is hosting a seminar on Thursday, April 24, from 7:30-9 a.m., at Bridgerland Applied Technology College, Brigham City campus, 325 W. 1100 S.  Titled “The Dog Poop Initiative,” instructor Mike Cottam will speak on identifying Pointers and Poopers, Solvers and Scoopers and the secrets of building culture and empowerment in the workplace.
Cost is $15 for the first person, $5 for each additional business person.  Register by April 21, at www.employerscommittee.org or by calling the Brigham City Area Chamber of Commerce.  Registration can also be done from 7-7:30 that morning during a continental breakfast.

Bingo Night
The Boys & Girls Club of Bear River Valley will hold their annual Bingo night on Monday, April 28, from 5-7 p.m., at Garland Elementary School. The cost will be $5/child, $10/adult and $20/family. The cost of the ticket includes dinner and Bingo cards. There will be prizes, and all funds will go to support the club and its programs. For more information, call (435) 225-0529.

Pageant Fundraiser
The Corinne Pageant is coming back this year and a fundraiser is set to help defray the cost.  On Friday, April 25, a barbecue/Dutch oven dinner (prepared by Butch and Marjie Mills) and auction will be held at the see storage shed north of the Bear River Valley Co-op.
Tickets for the dinner, which begins at 6:30 p.m., are $10 per plate.  Tickets are available from Deverle and Beulah Wells, Butch and Marjie Mills and Royal and Elaine Norman, who are also accepting items for the auction.

Scout Recognition
The Golden Spike District of the Boy Scouts of America will hold its annual recognition event on  Thursday, April 17, at 7 p.m., in the Tremonton Stake Center, 660 N. 300 East, Tremonton. All young men who have earned their Eagle Scout rank since January of 2013 are invited to attend with their parents to be recognized. Additionally, six individuals from the District will be presented with the Award of Merit, the highest award in Scouting that can be bestowed by a district.
Guest speaker will be David B. Erickson, a former member of the Young Men General Board of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a scouter extraordinaire. For more information call Eldon Petersen, 435-257-3550.

Bear River Middle School will hold Parent-Teacher Conferences on Tuesday, April 22, from 3:30-7 p.m., in the school gym.

Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on Monday, April 21, from 3:30-7 p.m., in the teacher’s classroom.
Also, during this same time, the counselors will be available to help with the Utah State University admissions process. This is for students who will be taking their first USU Concurrent Enrollment class during the 2014-2015 school year. A method of payment will be needed.

Wednesdays, Stories with Torie, 4-5 p.m.  Juggling on April 17.  April 24 is the beginning of Los Ninos Week. Dia de los Ninos is on April 30.  There will be a food/bake sale featuring Spanish dishes.  A sign-up sheet is available for those wanting to donate a dish for the sale.
Teen Schedule: Thursday, April 17 – Crafternoon, cereal box letters, 3-7 p.m.; Wednesday, April 23 – Makeup Club, easy hair styles taught by Stacie Doutre; Friday, April 25 – Movie night, “The Hobbit, Desolation of Smaug” at 6 p.m.

Tremonton Library
Saturday, April 26, from 2-4 p.m., at the Bear River Valley Senior Center, the library will be celebrating “El día de los niños/El día de los libros” (Children’s Book Day). The Brigham City Puppet Museum will be there to present a puppet show. We will be having a math and literacy day, with fun math and literacy games and activities for the children. We will also introduce a new bilingual math kit and bilingual math resource books to be checked out from the library.
