    Douglas Hatfield, 35, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 28, 2014.

    He is survived by his aunt and uncle, Stu and Karen Wilson, as well as many other family members and friends.

Barbara Ann Hurd

    Barbara Ann Hurd passed away peacefully in her home on March 26, 2014. Barbara is the daughter of Clarence and Rozine Hurd.

    She is survived by three children: Lisa, Austin and Justin. She also is survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

    Barbara grew up in Snowville and attended grade school there. She graduated from Bear River High School and lived most of her life in Box Elder County.

    She worked at La-Z-Boy, Flying J and ATK, where she was employed for many years.

    She enjoyed many things, especially her family. She loved to spend her time traveling, playing board games and cards with family and friends.

    She was an avid reader and enjoyed going to the movies and embroidery work.

    A small memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 5, at 11 a.m., at the Bothwell LDS Ward church, 10350 W. 11600 N., Bothwell.

 

LaWana Estep Burgess

LaWana Estep Burgess, 73, passed away peacefully at her home on March 29, 2014.

She was born March 18, 1941 in Tremonton, Utah to Hyrum Steed Estep and Eathel (Archibald) Estep.  She grew up in Plymouth, Utah and attended Bear River High School.

She married James DeVoe Burgess in Tijuana, Mexico on February 19, 1957.  Their marriage was later solemnized in the L.D.S Temple.

She was an active and faithful member of the L.D.S. church (Tremonton 1st Ward).  She never turned down a calling and served in many different positions.

Along with working alongside her husband for many years she worked at Tremonton Sportswear, Christensen’s Department Store, La-Z-Boy and Tremonton Pharmacy.

She loved her flowers, gardening and making quilts for family.  She enjoyed softball, bowling and watching the Utah Jazz and the Oakland Raiders play.  She especially enjoyed riding four-wheelers in Arizona with family and anybody else who wanted to come along.

She is survived by her husband and their children, LaDonna (Gary) Connors, Toni Perry, Todd Burgess, Shawn Burgess, Brady (Koreen) Burgess, Jeremy (Heidi) Burgess, twenty-two grandchildren, thirty-three great grandchildren and one great great grandchild on the way.  Also survived by two sisters, Lanae Wakley and Ila Ray Wilkes; and one brother Norvel Estep.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

The family would like to express a special thanks to Pam, Chantel, Leora and Jason at CNS Hospice for their help and compassion.  And any of the friends and family that have expressed their love and concern for LaWana during her final years.

Services for LaWana will be held Thursday, April 3, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Tremonton 1st Ward LDS Chapel (166 N. Tremont St.) with viewings held Wed. from 6-8 p.m. and Thur. from 9-10:30 a.m. both viewings will be at Rogers & Taylor Funeral Home (111 N. 100 E. – Tremonton). Interment – Riverview Cemetery. Earl “VeLoy” Payne

BRIGHAM CITY – Earl “VeLoy” Payne, 78, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at McKay Dee Hospital of natural causes brought on by illness.

VeLoy was born on May 24, 1935 in Trenton, Utah a son of Rosabel Altena Larsen and Charles Nicholas Payne.

He married Sharon Arlene Harvey on November 13, 1954 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

VeLoy was a member of the LDS Church.

He loved to golf and would have rather been on a golf course then any where else; if you could add a trip to Wendover or Mesquite that was a bonus.  He made two “Hole-in-Ones” at Eagle Mountain Golf Course. When he was younger he loved to fish, hunt, and camp with his family.  He drove truck for over 40 years until his retirement.

Surviving are his children: Russell (Lucy) Payne, Roy; Altina “Tina” (Phillip) Stott, Roy; Christine “Chris” (Barry) Hubble, Brigham City; son-in-law, Andy Berchtold, 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Also siblings: Dean (Dodie) Payne, St. George and Elva Ellis, Brigham City.

Preceded in death by his parents, his wife, daughter Michelle, siblings; Milton, DeVerle, Linda and two infant sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 31, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Brigham City 19th Ward Chapel, 105 W. Fishburn Dr., Brigham City.
Friends may call on Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City, and Monday from 10:00 to 10:40 a.m. at the Church.  Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
