This morning at about 7:12 a.m., Tremonton police were called to report to a smash and grab burglary of Montaya and Sons Sports outlet on Main Street.

According to police chief Dave Nance the burglar broke the window and took several jerseys and other sports attire. Neighboring business owners said they are sure the window was still intact around 7 a.m., so police suspect it happened shortly afterwards.A report is still being finalized but the estimated damage to the window is about $600 and another $2000 for loss in merchandise.

Nance also wanted to remind residents that vehicle burglaries have occurred over the past couple weeks. In most case the vehicles have been left unlocked. He said, “Some pretty high dollar items were stolen like weapons, cash and purses.” He encourages people to lock vehicles and homes and to take valuables inside.

If you noticed any suspicious activity during the time frame of this burglary or have any information that could help in the investigation contact the police at 435-257-9555.
