Winnie Richman received a call from Ellen Cook about a house fire on SE Promontory Road at about 5:15 a.m., 1/8/14.  She asked Winnie to go to it and take pictures.  Winnie did.

The house was completely engulfed in flames, which could be seen through a light snow from a mile away.

No one was in the house at the time.

Starr Mitchell’s dog Rosie woke her and tried to go to the fire.  Starr called the fire in to 911.  She then called Gary and Cleo Petit.  Gary went over.

When Winnie arrived, Gary warned her that gun ammo was going off so to stay away.  She did.

Winnie then called 911 to tell them to warn their drivers on the scene about the ammo.

The fire was spectacular.  It was totaling the house.  It was very nearly dying down when Corinne and Thatcher trucks arrived.  They shot water at what was left of the iconic home of Kevin Wells.

No other structures were involved that this reporter knows of.  Resident Ron Porter, 62, was not home, but  has lost everything.  He will need personal items, food and clothing, when he comes home.
