Two suspected burglars are spending Christmas Eve in the Box Elder County Jail after they were found in possession of stolen goods from the Perry Sinclair station.
At about 5:30 a.m., on Dec. 24, Lt. Juan Trujillo with the Perry Police Department was patrolling in that city when he spotted a suspicious vehicle at the Perry station. Upon investigation, the officer determined that a burglary was in progress. Two suspects then fled the scene in the vehicle, with Lt. Trujillo giving chase. Brigham City police officers joined in the pursuit. The suspects were stopped about a mile east of the city on SR 89/91.
Inside the vehicle were several hundred dollars worth of product from the convenience store.
The suspects, who names are not yet being released, are awaiting formal charges on the Perry case, but are believed to be two of several suspects in other similar “smash and grab” burglaries that have occurred recently in Box Elder County, as well as some in Cache County.
An active investigation into those connections is underway.
