Dona Wood Stokes
Dona Wood Stokes 89 passed away peacefully at her home on November 11, 2013 in Tremonton, UT. She was born on March 31, 1924 in Fielding, UT to Maggie Richards & Franklin George Wood. She lived in Tremonton most of her life. Her future husband, Owen R. Stokes was in the Navy/Coastguard in San Francisco and sent for her to come to California and get married. They were married in San Francisco on July 17, 1943. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple.
Mom worked as a secretary and was very business minded and great with numbers. She did the family taxes and farm books. Along with that she loved quilting, crocheting, sewing, reading, singing and playing the piano. She sang with the ward choir and also sang with the Singing Mothers. She was a great cook and constantly took meals to people in need. Mom and Dad raised 8 children on the family Turkey/Dairy farm.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She attended the Tremonton 3rd ward. During her life she served as the Relief Society President, Primary President and held many other callings. Mom and Dad worked for three years in the Logan LDS Temple.
Mom is preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers, sisters, one still born daughter Maggie and one son-in-law.
She is survived by her children, Barry Owen Stokes, Chandler, AZ; Ronda (Brent) Marshall, Tremonton; LaDee (Duain) Madsen, Tremonton; Maleea Abel Tremonton; Rodney Franklin (Dianne) Stokes, Grangeville, ID; Barbie (Scott) Wakley, Tremonton; Treena (John) Fronk, Tremonton and Nadine Stokes, Tremonton. She is also survived by 34 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Dona will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday November 14, 2013 in the Tremonton 3rd Ward Chapel (9590 N. 6800 W.). There will be viewings held on Wednesday evening November 13, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. at Rogers & Taylor Funeral Home (111 N. 100 E.) and at the church previous to the funeral from 9:30- 10:30 a.m. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.ruddfuneralhome.com. Laurie Ann Harris
1956 – 2013
West Valley, UT – Laurie Ann Harris, beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend returned to her Heavenly Father on November 5, 2013 after a long battle with diabetes.
She graduated from Bear River High School and Stevens Henager College. She served an LDS Mission to Uruguay.
She was the “favorite aunt” of all her nieces and nephews.
She loved family outings, cooking, reading, and serving others. She especially enjoyed teaching Primary.
She is survived by her parents, LaDel and LaRaine Harris; sisters, Kathy (Peter) Reynolds and Valaine (Douglas) Young; brother, Douglas (Colleen) Harris, and 18 nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held Saturday, November 9, 2013 from 9:30 to 10:45 AM, followed by Funeral Services in her honor at 11:00 AM at the Harmon Ward Chapel 4634 Harman Drive, West Valley, UT.
Interment will be at the Valley View Cemetery in Bothwell, Utah.
