Duo “encounters” have police on alert
For the second time in less than a month, Brigham City police are investigating a report of a person approaching children in a “suspicious manner.”
Police Lt. Dennis Vincent said on Friday, Oct. 29, two girls, one age six and one 10, were walking home from Foothill Elementary School, when a woman in a white car stopped and asked if they had their Halloween costumes.
The woman said if they didn’t, they could get in her car and look at the ones she had, Vincent said.
The girls reportedly told her no, and she drove away. The girls described the woman as older and “looking like a grandma.”
The incident comes on the heels of another encounter on Oct. 19, when a 40-50 year old male approached a four-year-old in her yard. That man was driving a maroon extended cab pickup.
“We are treating these seriously,” Vincent said, and his office is stepping up patrol, especially around local elementary schools.
