A routine traffic stop early Monday morning for a minor violation resulted in a pursuit that ended at the Idaho border.

Tremonton Police Chief Dave Nance said an officer made the stop at 1200 W. Main, just after 4 a.m., after the driver of a Chevy Impala failed to dim his lights.

As the officer was checking out the driver’s information, the car took off.  With the officer in pursuit, the suspect made his way into Garland.  The driver of the vehicle, a 26-year-old male from the Ogden area, then entered the freeway heading north on I-15, leading the officer on a chase that reached speeds of over 100 mph, before he crossed the border into Idaho.  The officer ended the pursuit at that time.

Nance said the suspect has been identified had a hefty warrant on his record related to drug distribution and will now face addition charges of felony evading.
