Three Box Elder county teens ended up walking away from their pickup truck after getting stuck on the salt flats near Lone Rock.
A call from one of the three, Colby Anderson, 18, of Brigham City, came into Dispatch about 8:45 p.m. on Tuesday night. Anderson said their vehicle was stuck somewhere out on the salt flats, but they were unsure exactly where they were. Several phone calls later pinpointed their location and a sheriff’s deputy was dispatched.
He arrived to find driver Zachary Akin, 18, of Brigham City, Anderson, and a second passenger, a 16-year-old from Willard, very cold and without any means of transportation.
Soon after, a tow truck arrived but the driver opted not to go after the bogged down truck, as it was deemed too far out in the flats to recover safely.
The three teens were given a ride to Snowville with the tow truck driver and said they would return the next day with a plan to retrieve the pickup.
