What started out as a pretty competitive game in the first half, turned into a rout as Bear River scored 56 unanswered points in the second half to roll to a 62-13 win over Park City.
The two teams went into half with the Bears ahead 14-13. But Bear River came out hot, scoring on four passing TDs from JarDee Nessen in the third quarter to blow the door open.
Just for fun, the Bears added two rushing TDs and another scoring toss, from backup Walker Riley, to finish the scoring.
Bear River now has a short week as they prepare to take on Ben Lomond on Oct. 16 in Garland. It is the UEA weekend so the game is on Wednesday. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
Nessen had another banner night at quarterback for the Bears. He completed 16 of 26 passes for 213 yards and five TDs. He also rushed the ball for 13 more. Riley completed one pass for 44 yards and rushed twice for 41 yards.
Jeramie Selman led the rushing attack with 206 yards and two TDs on 27 attempts. Cole Fronk had three catches for 90 yards and two scores. Bridger Beus, Brady Parker, Taylor Lund and Colton Jensen all had receiving TDs in the game.
The Miners managed 353 yards of total offense, compared to Bear River’s 566, but they gave up three interceptions – two to Fronk and one to Nic Rasmussen. Mckade Mitton was a beast on defense again, racking up 12 tackles.
