The Bear River girls’ soccer team defeated Ben Lomond today, claiming the victory and the 3A Region 11 Championship title.

Going into today’s game, Bear River and Ben Lomond were tied in the region standings with 18 points each. But it was the Bears who came out on top. Whitney Wilcox scored the first goal for the Bears, leading 1-0 at the end of the first half.

In the second half, Sabrina Garcia netted one for the Bears, extending their lead 2-0. Ben Lomond answered back with a quick goal, 2-1. But Bear River’s defense proved their strengths as they held the Scots to one goal.

Bear River won 2-1 and will now enter the 3A state tournament as the #1 seed from Region 11. Pick up next week’s paper for a full report.
