Bear River played three great quarters against the Stansbury Stallions Friday night in Garland. Unfortunately for the Bears, the game was four quarters long and Stansbury rolled to a 34-22 win.
The Bears dropped to 1-2 (3-3 overall) in the new 3AA north region; Stansbury improved to 3-0 (4-2 overall) and now awaits Juan Diego for the region lead.
The two teams were almost even in total offense, with Stansbury racking up 411 yards compared to BR’s 395. But most of the two teams’ offense came in the fourth quarter as they both scored two touchdowns.
Alexander Mackay paced Stansbury with 151 yards on 15 carries, including three TDs. Colton Jensen had a monster day with 8 catches for 240 yards and two scores. His long was 97 yards. JarDee Nessen was 13 of 37 for 301 yards and two scores. He also tossed an interception.
Mckade Mitton continued to terrorize opponents’ offenses with 12 tackles. Justus Wise and Taylor Lund added 7 tackles each.
The Bears must find a way to rebound on the road as they travel to Payson next week in another critical 3AA region match up.
