What began as an call on suspected marijuana use at a Tremonton hotel turned into something much bigger and landed four California men in the Box Elder County jail, facing multiple charges of drug possession and credit card fraud.
Tremonton Police Chief Dave Nance said his officers received a call from employees at the Tremonton Hampton Inn just before noon on Friday about possible marijuana in one of the rented rooms. When the officer arrived, the suspects were just leaving the hotel parking lot in a white Chevy cargo van, so he followed them to the Tremonton Maverik gas station, where they were detained. As other officers and departments arrived, a search of the van uncovered additional drugs. Several fraudulent credit cards were also discovered, Nance said, and were reportedly used at least twice during the two days the men were in the Tremonton area.
