Beaver Dam Fire Update
Fire crews and investigators entered the charred remains of a Beaver Dam home late last night and recovered a body, presumed to be that of the adult male who had previously been unaccounted for when the house fire started. A press release from the Box Elder County Sheriff’s office said no positive identification had yet been made and the name will not be released until the State Medical Examiner’s office completes its work.
A preliminary investigation of the scene indicates the possibility of an accelerant, suggesting the fire was intentionally started to commit suicide.
The explosion and subsequent fire was reported at 16488 N. Beaver Dam Road, just before noon on Thursday, Sept. 4. Fire crews from Fielding, Plymouth, Garland, Tremonton, Honeyville and the county all responded to the scene, but the home, one of the oldest in the community, was already fully engulfed. It was a total loss.
