The Bear River Bears beat North Sanpete 42-20 Friday night in football action behind Jeramie Selman’s 154 yards rushing and JarDee Nessen’s 274 yards passing. Nessen also added 79 rushing yards in the win.
The Bears scored 22 points in the first quarter, added 13 in the second and then cruised to the win with one more score in the fourth.
North Sanpete had 222 rushing yards in the game but couldn’t get anything going in the passing game, with only 69 yards gained through the air. On the other side, BR’s Colton Jensen started right where he finished last year with 166 receiving yards.
Junior Makade Mitton was a monster on defense with 17 total tackles. Kurt Wronkowski, Justus Wise and Parker Lewis added 4 total tackles.
The Bears face the Preston (Idaho) Indians next Friday in Garland. It will be the season opener for Preston and the third opener in a row against the Bears for the Indians.
