Willard and Brigham City firefighters were mopping up from a fire in Willard Thursday morning when  a body was discovered in the extinguished ruins.

Willard Police Chief Nathan Thompson said the body is that of a male but would not release any other information about who the victim might be, apparent cause of death or where the body was found.

“The body has been sent to the state Medical Examiner’s Office,” he said.  “We will know more when we get the autopsy report.”

The fire was reported about 3 a.m., at 103 E. 100 N.  That address is listed as the home of Jeremy M. Lankford, 28.  Thompson said it appeared no one was inside the home when crews arrived.

Positive identification has not yet been made on the body and the investigation is continuing into the cause of the fire by Willard officials and the Utah State Fire Marshal.

Out of respect for the family you should remove the name from this news story. They are obviously in mourning. I am a family friend and they don’t deserve to have their name broadcast out there for a stupid news story especially after just losing a family member and their home.
