This week marks the culmination of a year’s worth of preparation for Miss Bear River Valley 2012, Anna Marie Evans, as she participates in the Miss Utah scholarship pageant held this week at the Capital Theater in Salt Lake City. Competition begins Thursday and continues through Saturday when the top 10 are announced.
For the past year Anna Marie has been promoting her platform, “Believe in Yourself and Be You,” where she has spoken to local youth groups about suicide prevention and bullying.
“I feel like they are both growing problems (among youth). It breaks my heart when people don’t love themselves,” she said.
She has spoken at local high schools and at a back-to-school convention and sits on the Box Elder County Suicide Prevention board.
Preparing for the Miss Utah pageant has been ongoing.
“Since I’ve been Miss Bear River Valley it’s been on the back of my mind, thinking about it,” she said. “I have been doing so much. It’s been crazy!”
