Girl injured in rodeo accident
Life Flight was called to Honeyville Saturday afternoon for a nine-year-old Arizona girl who was injured when a horse fell on her.
Box Elder County chief deputy sheriff Kevin Potter said the little girl was taking part in a Little Britches rodeo being held at the Honeyville arena. She was participating in the tie-down roping event when her horse reared up and then fell on her.
The victim received crushing injuries to her upper leg and pelvic area, Potter said.
A crew from the Central Box Elder Fire District was already on the scene to monitor the rodeo and worked to stabilized the injured girl until Life Flight arrived.
She was airlifted to Primary Children’s Hospital.
