The quest for a sixth straight 3A state title in girl’s softball is in Bear River’s reach as they head into the semifinals Friday night against Stansbury in St. George. Game time is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
The Bears defeated Canyon View Friday 3-0 on a windy, dusty morning. This was the second time this year the Bears have faced Canyon View. They lost to them 8-7 earlier this season at the Tooele tournament.
Freshman speed up runner Ashlee Kent, running for catcher MaKayla King, scored from first on a Kylie Larkin bunt. Larkin got to third after a Canyon View overthrow to first. Senior Jordan Theurer brought in Larkin in the third inning for a 2-0 lead over Canyon View. The Bears scored once more in the fifth inning.
Bear River’s defense kept strong keeping Canyon View from scoring at pivotal moments in the game. Theurer earned the win at the mound.
