Artwork created at USU
There was a little van Gogh, some Georgia O’Keefe and a lot of colorful chalk dust.
This chalk art contest was part ART-Tell, held at the Utah State University – Brigham City campus and hosted by the Fine Arts Center in Brigham City.
Artists of all ages were invited to participate and each individuals or group was given a famous painting by a well-known artist to replicate in chalk outside the building.
The lack of sunshine did not deter the creative juices from flowing as couples, families and even solo artists got down and somewhat dirty before Russell Case, a local artist in his own right, judged the completed works.
Susan Niedert, director at the Fine Arts Center said the talent shown was amazing.
“I was very impressed with the results and with the fortitude of our awesome participants, despite the seasonally chilly weather.
As she announced the winners, she added, “I want to say they are all winners and I hope we can hold more chalk art contests in the future.”
