Oneida County Sheriff’s officers were joined by investigators from Box Elder County Sheriff’s department Thursday evening as they served a search warrant at a residence in Garland in relation to the triple homicide last week in Holbrook, Idaho.

Oneida County Sheriff Jeff Semrad said in a press release that no arrests were made and no information will be released as to whether or not any evidence connected with the homicides was found during the search.

Sheriff Semrad reiterated that all evidence found at the crime scene indicates a relationship between the perpetrator and the victims.  There is no evidence that the murders of Brent L. Christensen, his son Trent Jon Christensen, and Yavette Chivon Carter were  random acts.

The investigation is continuing and Oneida is working with Box Elder County law enforcement in contacting potential witnesses and persons of interest in the case.  Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Oneida County Sheriff’s office, 208-766-2251.

After I read the story about the triple murder in Holbrook, I had just one question; what was the condition of the two young children that were found with the murder victims? The Leader devoted another complete story to the condition of the dogs that were found, the time spent feeding and caring for the dogs, the emotional impact of the dog’s condition on one of the Humane Society employees, and the care taken to identify each dog before it was transported. I did not read one word about whether or not either child was injured, what their physical condition was after going close to 24 hours without water or food, or the emotional state of the 2 year old.

I am not an animal hater, but I think it is pathetic that it appears The Leader and its reporters were more concerned with reporting on the health and welfare of 60 dogs than on writing even one paragraph about the condition of 2 human beings, small, helpless children to boot!!

Thanks you for your comments. We did not discuss the condition of the children because law enforcement did not share that information with the media. We only know they were taken from the home. We have learned since that they are with family members and trust funds have been set up for them.
