Former Garland City Councilman Kent Hughes was honored Wednesday night by the Garland City Council for his service and dedication to the city and the community.
Hughes passed away in January from a brain tumor, but was recognized by his son-in-law, Garland City Councilman Scott Coleman. Hughes’ wife, Deanne, was presented a plaque by Coleman.
“He enjoyed it (serving on the council) thoroughly,” said Deanne. “I wished he could have served longer.”
