Saturday the Bear River Winter Guard not only put on one heck of a performance, they were able to host one of the state’s Best Winter Guard competitions. Several teams could be seen preparing in the halls of the high school as over 30 schools attended the competition. Bear River volunteers stayed busy feeding hundreds of spectators and maintaining the tight schedule.
The Bears battled it out for the top spot in their division as they performed an amazing rendition of their Garden Show. Acting as ants, ladybugs and bees, they floated their way around the floor, tossing flags and flinging sabers as they danced. Even with the Bears taking first in the general effect category, they were unable to achieve their goal. They finished fourth with 60.2 points, behind Lone Peak, Fairfield and Lehi. Up next for the Bears will be a competition at American Fork on March 16.
