Tremonton Library
A Dr. Suess party will be held at the Tremonton City library on Saturday, March 2, from 1-3 p.m.  There will be stories, activities, a tongue twister contest and losts of Suess fun.
Story hour on Friday, March 1, at 10 a.m., will be dedicated to Dr. Suess.
An adult activity about emergency preparedness is set for Thursday, March 7, at 6:30 p.m.


Lincoln Day Dinner
Box Elder Republicans are invited to attend the annual Lincoln Day Dinner on Saturday, March 2, at the Utah State University – Brigham City Education Center, 210 W. 1100 S., Brigham City.  The evening will begin with a Meet and Greet at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:30.  Keynote speaker will be Senator Mike Lee.  Tickets are $25 per person or $40 per couple.  Door prizes will be awarded.  RSVP Tom Peterson by Thursday, Feb. 28, at boxelderrepublicans@gmail.com.

Waypoint Open House
Waypoint Wealth Management, 805 W. Main, Suite E, will hold an open house on Friday, March 1, from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.  Refreshments will be served.

Senior Center Help
The Bear River Valley Senior Center, 510 W. 1000 N., is offering free tax help with Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) on Fridays from 3-6:30 p.m.  No appointments are necessary.
On Wednesdays, from noon to 4 p.m., there is free tax help with AARP for residents 60 or older.  Call 435-257-9455 for an appointment and for more information.

Garland Library
The Garland Library is offering a number of activities this week.  Homework Help is available from 3:30-5 p.m., on Wednesday, Feb. 27, for all students who would like assistance with their studies.  Job Search Help is also available at 5 p.m., the same day.  At 5:30, the Comic Book/Manga Club will meet, with author Gary Brantner giving instruction on writing and illustrating a comic book.  The club meets monthly at the library on the fourth Wednesday.
On Thursday, Feb. 28, at 4 p.m., is Stories With Torie, and on Tuesday, March 5, 7-Up Book Club for Teens will meet.  Members are asked to come prepared to discuss a book they have enjoyed reading and help prepare a list of books to discuss in the coming months.

Symphonic Fundraiser
Lake Bonneville Symphonic Society is holding its fourth annual Gala Fundraiser Dinner and Silent Auction on March 2, at 6 p.m., at the Brigham City Community Center, 34 N. 300 W., Brigham City.  The dinner tickets are $15 a plate and will be catered by Iron Street Grille.  Heavily involved this year are the Lincoln Youth Symphony and Lincoln Youth Chamber Orchestra.

Community Giver
Box Elder Credit Union is sponsoring a semiannual Community Giver Award, recognizing individuals whose service and selfless giving has had a positive difference in the county.  The recipient of the award will receive $500 from Box Elder Credit Union to be donated to a charity of their choice.  Any person living in the county is eligible.
Applications for nominations are available online at www.boxeldercu.com.  Just click on the Community Giver Award link and complete, or print out the application and mail to Tonya Gail – Community Giver Award, c/o Box Elder Credit Union, 1023 Medical Drive, Brigham City, Utah 84302.
The first Community Giver Award will be presented in April.

Your Money
It’s Your Money is an eight hour financial management course designed to help families learn to work through family financial disagreements, set goals, develop a budget, manage important financial papers, use credit wisely and be wise consumers.

Dried Beans
Dried beans are a great addition to family meals because they are economical, versatile and nutritious.   The Beautiful Dried Beans class will be offered in Tremonton on Wednesday,  Feb. 27, from 6:30-7:30 p.m., at the Bear River Valley Senior Center, 510 West 1000 North in Tremonton.  On Feb. 28, the class will be held Bridgerland Applied Technology College (BATC) at 325 W. 1100 S.,  Brigham City from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
The Healthy Eating on a Budget classes are sponsored by USU Extension’s Food $ense Nutrition Education program and are free.  Contact USU Extension at 435 695-2542, 877 390-2326 or ann.henderson@usu.edu to register for the classes.


North Park Kindergarten
North Park Elementary School will hold a “Getting to Know You” day for future kindergarten students on Thursday, March 14, at 1 p.m.  Children who will be five years old before Sept. 1, 2013, are invited to attend a fun activity, while their parents fill out registration forms.  Immunization records and birth certificates are required.
Kindergarten Round-up will be Thursday, March 21, from 8-11:40 a.m., at Utah State University Tremonton Center.  Appointments are currently being scheduled so call the school at 257-2580.

Rabies Clinic
Tremonton City will hold its annual rabies and dog licensing clinic on Saturday, March 16, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Tremonton Public Works building, 300 E. 1200 S.
Dog licenses are $10 if spayed or neutered, with proof required.  Cost is $30 for unaltered animals.
Bear River Animal Hospital will also be providing dog and cat rabies vaccines at $10 per shot. Also available are feline leukemia shots, parvo and distemper.
