Park Valley man injured in snowmobile accident
A 20-year-old Park Valley resident was injured Saturday afternoon while snowmobiling with family in Fisher Canyon. Box Elder County Chief Deputy Sheriff Kevin Potter said the man broke his femur when the snowmobile he was driving hit a tree just after 1 p.m. Emergency crews were unable to reach the victim because of the remote location, which was about two miles from SR 30 and another mile up from the base of the canyon.
Other family members attempted to move the man, but it was determined that transporting him down the mountain could intensify the injury, so Air Med was called to the scene. The helicopter landed just before 3 p.m., and transported the man to Ogden Regional Hospital, where he was treated.
