A 43-year-old Honeyville man suffered a broken collarbone Tuesday night after hitting a deer on his motorized bicycle.

Utah Highway Patrol trooper Colby Jensen said the man was traveling northbound from Brigham City on Hwy. 38, near the Call’s Fort Road in Honeyville about 10:30 p.m., when he collided with the deer.  First responders  arrived on the scene and assisted the injured man.  It is unknown if the deer sustained any injuries as it could not be located.

Jensen said the only light from the bike was a flashlight that had been duct- taped to the handlebars.  The man may face charges, the trooper added, as it is illegal to ride a motorized bicycle that is not equipped with turn signals on a public road or one that has a gas engine larger than 50cc.
