Crews rescue women from Willard Canyon
Search and Rescue personnel, along with Willard first responders, brought down two Willard women from “deep in the belly” of Willard Canyon Thursday night after one of the women suffered an injured leg in a fall.
Box Elder County Sheriff Lynn Yeates said the two women, one 69 and the other 64, were hiking at the base of the waterfall in Willard Canyon about 6 p.m., when the 64-year-old fell about ten feet, suffering a possible broken leg. Life Flight was called in but was unable to locate the women before darkness set in.
Rescue crews were finally able to reach the two about 10 p.m., and then used a litter be bring out the injured woman. Because of the difficult terrain, it was after 11 p.m., before they reach a waiting Brigham City ambulance that transported the pair to Brigham City Community Hospital for treatment.
