Bear River and Pine View met in non-league football action today at Snow College in Ephriam. The Panthers unleashed a torrid rushing attack and beat back a plucky Bear team 38-21.
Trailing 26-8, the Bears brought the score close by scoring on two Kyle Zundel to Colton Jensen passes. Trailing 26-21 in the fourth quarter, the Bears were not able to score again as the Panthers added two late scores to run away with the win in a windy, wild contest.
The Bears managed a respectable 314 yards of total offense, but that paled in comparison to Pine View’s 520 yards. The Bears were never able to get their rushing game going (73 yards) and relied on the arm of Zundel, but that wasn’t enough.
Zundel completed 14 of 31 passes for 241 yards with 3TDs but threw 4 interceptions. Colton Jensen had a monster game, hauling in 7 passes for 155 yards and 3 TDs. Jeramie Selman rushed for 43 yards and Zundel added 27.
Garret Fronk and Mckade Mitton had 11 tackles each while Zundel added 10. Broc Hill had 8 and Dallan Bergman and Austin Miller added 7 tackles.
The Bears (6-3, 3-2) now host Tooele on Wednesday night as they get ready to head into the UEA break.
