Layton makes cut, team doesn’t

After capturing their second consecutive region title, the Bear River High School Boys golf team traveled to Roosevelt to tackle the other 3A schools in the state tournament.

Unlike last year’s tournament, where all the teams played both days, you had to qualify to play on the second day of the tournament this year. Unfortunately the golfing gods did not smile on the Bears’ golf team, as they did not score well enough to make the cut to play the next day. Senior Augman Jolley, in his last high school golf tournament, missed the individual cut by one stroke.

“We accomplished our region goals and many of our team goals that we set in as a team before the season started,” said coach Candice Starr. “It was our second consecutive region title and I could not be prouder of the young men.”

She also was extremely excited about the improvement everyone had made throughout the season. With the Bears golf team being young, the future looks really good for BRHS boys’ golf.
