SWAT member suffers gunshot wound
A member of the Box Elder County sheriff’s SWAT team suffered a gunshot wound to his ankle during a training on Friday.
Chief deputy Kevin Potter said the 42-year-old old victim is a seven-year veteran with the department and was climbing a steep ravine in the Dock Flats Campground area near Mantua about 1:15 p.m., when the AR15 he had slung on his back accidentally discharged, striking him in the left ankle and breaking the bone. He was transported to Brigham City Community Hospital for treatment.
Potter said the shooting is under investigation.
