This Friday will officially begin the 2012 cross-country season for Bear River’s top runners. Both the boys’ and the girls’ team will run at the Highland Pre-State meet on Friday, Aug. 24, to meet up with other top 3A schools. They will also run the Box Elder County Fair 5K on Saturday, Aug. 25, starting at 7 a.m.

Top runners slated to compete this season include team captain Tanner Christensen, Brackon Rawlinson, Cameron Chadwick, Tanner Anderson and Spencer Stamps. For the girls’ team runners include Rylee Olsen, Kaylee Phipps, Rebekah Rees, Brooklyn Shultz, Katelyn Cunnings and Whitney Wilcox.

This summer runners have been working hard to keep their stamina and have prepared for the upcoming season. A pre-Region 11 meet will be held next Wednesday, Aug. 29, at Cottonwood Complex. Here the Bears will get a first hand look at the teams they need to beat for a Region 11 title. As usual Ogden will be their biggest competition as they are a nationally ranked team that always does well in region and in state.
