Soccer loss is heartbreaker

The preseason ended last week for the Bear River girls’ soccer team as the varsity saw their 1-1 record fall to 1-3.
Last Tuesday the Bears traveled to take on 5A Syracuse. At halftime the game seemed to be rather even. Each team had their chances on offense and both teams found the back of the net once. Sadie Cronie scored her first goal of the season for the Bears to even the game at 1-1. In the second half Syracuse started finding holes in the Bear River defense as they netted three more goals on their way to a 4-1 win.
“It has kind of been a story right now that in the second half we are a little worn out and don’t quite have the depth,” head coach Gene Wilcox said. “Up to halftime we played pretty good but obviously they out played us in the second half.”
Bear River then played host to Box Elder in a battle for county bragging rights. The Bears came out strong and were determined to beat the Bees after so many years of falling short to the cross county rival.
