School bell set to sound in Fielding

When the 2012-1013 school year starts, the new Fielding Elementary will be ready to welcome about 370 students from Portage, Plymouth, Riverside, East Garland, Beaver Dam, Collinston, and of course, Fielding.  And no one is more excited about what those students have in store than Principal Scott Hunsaker.

After years in a cramped, out-dated school and then spending last year in limbo at the old Garland school while construction was underway, “how exciting it is to have a place to call home, one that will be a great addition to the community for generations to come,” Hunsaker said.

The recently completed Fielding Elementary School is almost a mirror image of the new Garland Elementary, based on same floor plan, but with 24 classrooms, it is four classrooms shy in size to its sister school, according to Hunsaker.

That doesn’t mean there won’t be ample room for students to “spread their wings” and enjoy the modern, state-of-the-art amenities this new school provides.
